SUFFERING OF BOSNIA
(BH) - Surffering of Bosnia - Patnicka Bosna i Hercegovina
Past and the present of Bosnia are PATNICKA suffering, starting with the Crusader's wars against the Bosnian Church until most recent times. Historiography science has not judged jet the Austria-Hungarian evil that this country suffered in the Middle Ages, and Turks had finished off the Medieval Bosnian Kingdom. In the second half of 18th century, as agreed between Russia and Austria, Bosnia was given to the Austrian sphere of interest. During the Napoleon's wars, France established an immediate contact with this country and established the first consulate in Travnik. After the Wienna Congress in 1815. Austria became a priority in Bosnian politics. By the middle of the 19th century Austria opened general consulate in Sarajevo along with other consulates, vice consulates and consular agencies and directly influenced political, economical and cultural happenings in Bosnia.
Such politics culminated with the military intervention in 1878.
Right after the Parisian Peace Agreement in 1856 Great Britain, Russia, France and Germany opened their consulates in Bosnia. Their excuse was to carry out the reforms in the Turkish Empire and protection of Christians΄ rights. This forced Bosnia into the "East Problem" and that is where Europe was pointing its differences, same as today.
In the meantime, except for the First, Bosnia suffered the hell of World War II. In German and Italian bitter games for the Bosnian possessions, this country endured too much. And it repeats again. Finally, there is Dayton Peace Agreement on November 21, 1995. Historians are not to judge their time considering their first commandment - distance, but it is obvious and easy to feel this as a part of a global new world order plan: to destroy a world that lives differently in the cruellest way - using ethnic principals. In spite of all, historically, Bosnia has proven greatness of its tolerance. The first example could be the cursed and tortured Jewish nation in Europe. Bosnian protection has reflected in the small republic of Dubrovnik. At the court of Ali-bei Ishakovic, lord of the Land of Pavlovic, after Turks conquered Bosnia, was a troop of actors led by Radoje Vukosalic. In the year 1460 or a bit later Ali-bei sent them to Dubrovnik with a message: "For your holidays, to remain happy, blessed by God and in your prominent lordship."
Eastern and western influence on progress of Bosnian culture has been obvious through centuries. Such influence, which has been deposited into genes through ages, and its own typical characteristic has preserved Bosnia from barbarian being in this war and gave her hope of civilised sublime nature for the future. We hope that Collection made at the scientific meeting organised by the Institute of History in Sarajevo on March 15 and 16, 1996 as a part of the festival "Sarajevo - Sarajevska zima". (Editorial)
